Yesterday the community of Lanusei attended the inauguration of a new work of art placed in the archaeological park in Bosco Selene. The work of art, created and donated to the city by local artist Valerio Pisano, represents an important addition to the cultural heritage in the area. This is the reproduction of the first bronze statue that started the "Archaic Pop Art" series by the artist from Ogliastra.

Lanusei, the artist Valerio Pisano donates a work of art to his hometown: yesterday the inauguration of the Bic-Bronze statue at Bosco Selene
Valerio Pisano, who was born and raised with a Bic pen in his hands, has always used this simple tool to explore his imagination and express his life experiences. His passion for drawing, which began at primary school, led him to create unique works of art that combine the simplicity of the Bic pen and his limitless imagination.
In 2009, Pisano created the "self-portraits of Bic pens", a series of drawings in which the pen itself became the protagonist. It was transformed and given arms and legs and dressed in different ways. These creations attracted the attention of the public and art enthusiasts, leading Pisano to explore new creative horizons.
One of the most appreciated and requested series was that of the Sardinian bronze statues, reinterpreted in a contemporary way with the lost wax technique, which the artist learnt thanks to a collaboration with the artist Andrea Loddo. These “Bic-bronze statues” have been defined by critics as an example of “Archaic PoP Art”, a union between tradition and innovation.
This new creative trend has led Pisano to create other fusions, still unpublished, which will soon be revealed to the public. In the meantime, the artist has decided to share one of his most impressive creations with his hometown: a giant Bic-bronze statue.
Thanks to the collaboration with the artist Gianleonardo Viglino, Pisano was able to design and create an iron bronze statue representing a tribal chief. It was initially 3 meters high and subsequently lengthened to 5 meters with the addition of a red trachyte base. This colossal Bic-bronze statue has found its home at Bosco Selene in Lanusei, a place which embodies the link between nature and culture perfectly
The official inauguration took place yesterday, with the participation of the Mayor Davide Burchi and the municipal council. Pisano officially delivered his gift to the community, underlining the importance of keeping ties with one's roots alive through art. The event saw a large participation of citizens and art enthusiasts, who were able to admire the imposing sculpture in all its glory.
